Sliding mouth snaffle take the pressure off the lower tongue, lip, and bars of the horse's mouth which can cause a horse's jaw and had to lower and drop behind the traditional ring snaffle.  Elevation of the mouthpiece directs the pressure points upwards toward the corners of the mouth inviting the horse to extend his nose and elevate his poll.
